A fabulous 2 gallon stoneware jar signed HC Smith / Alexa / DC. Alexandria, VA circa: 1835. Profuse decoration with good color and a skillfully potted ovoid form. There is a small stone-pop on the reverse that is fille with calk and glued on the interior. This is probably a period repair to make the jar usable when it was made. The jar is otherwise perfect! $2595
